Regulation
Under the MOH Aesthetic Medical Practice Guidelines, every doctor performing aesthetic procedures must hold specific credentials. These are all publicly checkable.
The Malaysian Medical Council issues an annual practising certificate to every registered medical practitioner. Without it, they legally cannot practise medicine in Malaysia.
The Letter of Credentialing and Privileging is the MOH's specific approval for aesthetic procedures. It lists exactly which treatments the doctor is authorised to perform (Botox, fillers, laser, threads, etc).
Every injectable, laser device and topical must be registered with the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency. You can verify any product's status at npra.gov.my.
Before You Book
If a Klang Valley clinic does any of the following, do not book. There are hundreds of properly licensed clinics, you do not need to accept risk.
Cannot show its MOH facility registration certificate on request.
Refuses to name the exact product brand and batch number being used.
Advertises Botox at RM 99 per area or HA filler at RM 500 per syringe, real product simply cannot be legitimately sold at those prices.
Pressures you into a 'today only' package or asks for full pre-payment before assessment.
The person injecting is a beautician, therapist or 'skin specialist' without LCP-approved medical qualifications.
Offers 'stem cell facelifts', unregistered IV drips or unregulated Korean brands that are not on the NPRA list.
Promises unrealistic results such as 'permanent Botox' or '10 years younger in one session'.
