Malaysian Clinics That Use Ultrasound Before Filler

Many women come in wanting more filler but cannot remember what they had done before. Maybe it was a few years ago. Maybe it was across two or three different clinics. They do not know the brand, the amount, or exactly where it went. Then one area starts looking puffy, uneven, or just not quite right. This is a list of clinics in Malaysia that use ultrasound imaging to look under the skin before deciding what to do next.
You cannot tell by looking or touching
Filler is not always gone when you think it is. Some of it can still be sitting there years later, and it does not always stay exactly where it was placed. It can sit deeper, shallower, or slightly off from where you remember. None of that is reliably visible from the outside, and pressing on the area does not tell you much either. This is the reason adding more filler sometimes makes an area look heavier rather than better: the new product is being layered on top of old product nobody accounted for.
What ultrasound actually shows
Residual filler shows up on the scan even when it is years old and even when you were told it would have fully dissolved by now.
Depth and position, which is not always where it was originally injected. This matters most around the under-eye, the temples and the nose.
Puffiness under the eye can be old filler, fluid, fat, or a mix. These look similar in the mirror and are treated completely differently.
Facial arteries do not run in exactly the same place in every person. Seeing them before a needle goes in is a safety consideration, particularly in higher-risk areas.
When it is worth asking for
- You want a top-up but genuinely cannot remember what you had, or where
- You have had filler at more than one clinic over the years
- One area looks puffy, heavy or uneven and nobody can explain why
- You are considering having filler dissolved and want to know what is actually there first
- You are being offered a large volume in one session
What ultrasound is not
Being on this list is not a credential and it is not a verification. An ultrasound probe is a tool, and a tool is only as useful as the person holding it. It does not tell you whether a clinic is licensed, whether the doctor is registered, or whether the filler in the fridge is genuine. About the machine
The device on this list is the Sonon 500L, a wireless handheld ultrasound probe made by Healcerion. It is a high-frequency probe designed to image structures close to the skin surface, which is what makes it suitable for looking at filler, soft tissue and superficial vessels. It streams to a phone or tablet rather than a trolley-mounted screen, which is also why it moves around easily. See the next point.
These machines are portable, and clinics with more than one branch often move the unit between them depending on the day and which doctor is scanning. Being on this list does not guarantee the machine is at the branch nearest you on the day of your appointment. What to ask before you book
- Will you scan me before you inject, or only if there is a problem afterwards?
- Can I see the scan while you are doing it, and will you talk me through what you are seeing?
- If you find old filler, what changes about the plan?
- Who is operating the probe, and what is their training on it?
- Is the machine at this branch today?
